These easy Keto Taco Bites are packed with spicy taco meat and shredded cheese. They’re less than one net carb per bite, which makes them a perfect keto meal prep lunch idea!
Taco night is a real thing in this house. We love tacos! Since I started Keto, my husband still enjoys those delicious shells, but I’ve had to give them up.
I usually opt for a taco salad sans chips or a quesadilla with a cheese shell. If I did my meal prep, I might have a taco in these Keto Zucchini Tortillas. However, I have a new way to get my taco fix with these easy Cheesy Keto Taco Bites!
If you follow my other food blog, Maebells you might have already tried my favorite Keto Sausage Egg and Cheese Bites or these crazy delicious Keto Pizza Bites. This is a fun spinoff of those recipes. I use the same coconut flour, cream cheese, cheese and egg base but this time we add ground beef (or turkey) and taco seasoning.
These are so good with a keto margarita and some guacamole (also keto friendly!) or a low-carb jalapeño ranch. What’s even better: These reheat perfectly for a lunch the next day! I can make a double batch, freeze all the leftovers, and we have easy, delicious keto lunches meal prepped for weeks.
Ingredients in Keto Taco Bites
This is one of my favorite keto Mexican food recipes! Here’s what you’ll need to make the bites:
- Ground beef or turkey
- Cream cheese
- Coconut flour
- Baking powder
- Taco seasoning
- Eggs
- Shredded cheese of choice
Can you use almond flour in this keto meal?
Yes, you can. Usually almond flour and coconut flour are not easily substituted, but it will work in this recipe. Taco bites using almond flour will not be as fluffy and light, but they still taste great.
How to Make Taco Bites for Meal Prep
This is such an easy keto lunch meal prep idea! Here’s an overview of how the taco bites are made:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Combine the browned meat and cream cheese.
- Add in remaining ingredients and chill 15 minutes.
- Drop onto a greased baking sheet (I like to use silicone baking mats) using a small cookie scoop.
- Bake 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
Can you freeze keto taco bites?
Yes, these make a great keto meal for the freezer! These last 4 days in the fridge, but they’ll last several months in the freezer.
To freeze, allow the taco bites to cool completely after cooking. If freezing the keto bites longer than a couple weeks, I prefer to wrap each bite multiple times in plastic wrap before placing in a freezer bag. This helps prevent freezer burn. To reheat, just microwave in 20-30 second increments until warmed throughout.
If thawed, you can reheat in the air fryer or oven if you prefer to have crispy edges. Just watch to make sure it doesn’t overcook!
Keto Meal Prep Ideas for Taco Bites
If you pack your lunch or do meal prep, these Cheesy Keto Taco Bites are great because they are easy, make a ton and reheat well. They are great right out of the microwave, toaster oven, air fryer, or oven.
I served these with a mixed green salad with a little bit of avocado, sliced tomato and cheddar and used the low carb jalapeno ranch as the salad dressing and my taco bite dipping sauce.
However, it can be hard to think of low carb side dishes, especially ones that are packable. These are some of my favorite low carb lunch side dish ideas to serve alongside the keto taco bites:
- Guacamole or sliced avocado with pico de gallo or salsa
- Sliced radishes and/or broccoli with ranch
- Cheese cubes
- Almonds, or low carb almond butter
- Hard boiled eggs
- Zoodles with butter and parmesan
- Zoodles with cheese sauce
- Broccoli with cheese sauce
- Berries (blueberries and strawberries in small quantities) with coconut whipped cream
- Avocado Bacon Dip (great with the Taco Bites or veggies)
- Keto Lemon Bars
- Keto Cheesecake Brownies

Jacki says
Can I use almond flour instead of coconut flour??
Annie says
Hi Jacki, you can just don’t forget to chill the dough
Marie Knight says
How can I do this and not have my husband lose weight? He is super thin
Annie says
Marie, I’m not a health care professional so I can’t give any advice on health. However, I can tell you that the keto diet only works if you keep your overall carbs at a drastically low rate. If he doesn’t keep his carbs at the reduced rate in theory he wouldn’t loose weight. He could add more carb heavy sides or drinks while you followed the low carb diet.
Jenae says
Hi! What’s the sauce on the side?
Annie says
Hi Jenae it is Jalapeno Ranch with a little paprika added. It’s delish with these taco bites!
