My favorite Keto Smoothie is full of coffee, peanut butter and a sneaky special ingredient that makes it ultra creamy! This low-carb smoothie recipe is like a caffinated keto fat bomb in a cup!

Keto Smoothies

When you need an energizing, easy breakfast, keto smoothies are perfect for a tasty boost! With a few simple ingredient swaps, you can make a low-carb smoothie that tastes amazing and will keep you full for hours. Of course, I had to include coffee in it… I have it in my desserts, in my cocktails, you better believe I’ll turn it into a smoothie!

Keto smoothie recipes are hard to find because most smoothies are full of sugary fruits and juices. Avoid that sugar-crash-in-a-glass and instead let your body indulge in quality high-fat ingredients that will help you feel great all day. Bonus: All these ingredients are easy to find and keep on hand for a go-to healthy habit!

Why you’ll love it:

  • Quick & easy to make – Forget cooking or reheating anything first thing in the morning. You can blend this smoothie together in 5 minutes with your eyes half closed.
  • Can be healthy or indulgent – With just 1 or 2 add-ins, you can turn this into a green smoothie or something closer to a mocha milkshake! Whether you want to add more fiber, protein, or other vitamins and minerals, you can easily adjust this to become your favorite keto smoothie.
  • Perfect way to keep you on track – If you’re new to the keto diet, finding a simple, low-carb breakfast that is easy to fit into your routine will help you build your keto lifestyle!

Keto Smoothie Ingredients

Here’s a quick overview of what you’ll need for this easy low-carb smoothie recipe. You will find exact measurements in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page.

  • Coffee – I used my favorite cold brew coffee, but you can easily just brew a cup and let it cool off first. I have not tried this with any substitutions.
  • Frozen Avocado – This can be mashed, pureed, or cubed, whatever is convenient. You can use fresh avocado, but you’ll want to add ice to help make your smoothie cold.
  • Full-Fat Coconut Milk – You want the canned coconut milk, unsweetened. Give it a good shake before opening to get the best consistency. You could use coconut cream, heavy cream, or a low-carb Greek yogurt if you prefer. You can use unsweetened almond milk, but it will make the smoothie quite thin.
  • Nut or Seed Butter – I used peanut butter, but an almond butter (or pecan, cashew, or macadamia) would be great as well. Sunflower butter or even tahini are good nut-free options as well.
  • Monk Fruit Sweetener – You could also use Swerve, Stevia, or another alternative sweetener if you prefer. If you’re sensitive to the erythritol in a lot of alternative sweeteners, try a few drops of this liquid monk fruit instead.
  • Ground Cinnamon & Vanilla Extract – These add a great, full-bodied flavor that we loved! Feel free to skip, substitute, or adjust these how you’d like without worrying about much effect on the texture of the smoothie.
  • Optional: Unsweetened Cocoa Powder – I sprinkled a bit on top for a pretty garnish, but sometimes I add a scoop into the blender for a chocolate smoothie! This isn’t necessary, just adds a nice touch.

How to Make a Keto Smoothie

This recipe is incredibly easy and requires no cooking at all! You just need a blender, and you’re good to go. Simply pour all of the ingredients into your blender and give it a whirl! When the mixture is smooth and creamy with all the ingredients well mixed, you can pour into a glass and serve! Even better–Use a blender with a to-go cup to save time and dishes!

I know it sounds a bit odd, putting avocado in a smoothie. But it really doesn’t taste like anything, so this recipe just tastes like a coffee peanut butter smoothie! Want to make it extra special for a birthday, a big interview, or a special occasion? Add some homemade espresso whipped cream!

a straight shot of a peanut butter coffee smoothie in a glass

What to serve with keto smoothies

I’ll often have this smoothie on its own (or with some Grain Free Granola I tossed in my bag), but if it’s going to be a really long day, I love warming up a Keto Sausage and Biscuit just in case I have to skip lunch! If you love a sweet treat in the morning, consider adding a Keto Blueberry Muffin or a Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll instead. For those who prefer one big meal to get them through the day, get your protein from this Steak Omelet, add more fiber with this Swiss Chard, and enjoy a Keto Biscuit on the side!

Can you make smoothies ahead of time?

The best keto smoothies are super chilled and creamy. The best way to make this happen is to make the smoothies fresh with at least one frozen ingredient. The frozen avocado blends into a super cold, creamy mixture that helps thicken the smoothie without watering it down like ice would. Freshly blended smoothies have the best taste, texture, and appearance.

Healthy, Low-Carb Smoothie Add-Ins

There are so many healthy additives you could use in this easy smoothie! For the smoothest blend, consider blending your additives with half of the coffee FIRST, then adding the remaining ingredients and blending again. This can help prevent a gritty texture from the fibers, powders, etc.

  • Greens – Spinach is a popular addition to smoothies because it has a mild flavor, and you can get it processed super small in the blender. Kale, collards, celery, and other greens can also work well, but they may require a little extra blending and may have a stronger flavor. Blend them with half of the coffee until smooth before adding the remaining ingredients and blending again.
  • Seeds – Chia seeds have 0 net carbs, 5 grams of fat, 3 grams of protein, and 75 calories in 1 tablespoon. Adding 1 tablespoon of hemp seeds adds 0 net carbs, 4 grams of fat, and 3 grams of protein for about 50 calories. For the best texture, soak them in half the coffee first for about 5 minutes.
  • Supplements – Protein powder, collagen powder, superfood powders, and other products meant to add specific vitamins and minerals are perfect for smoothies. This smoothie already has a ton of healthy fats, so you can probably skip the MCT oil.

If you love this keto breakfast, you have to try these easy recipes!

  • Keto Lemon Chia Cheesecake Parfaits – It tastes like dessert but is an excellent no-cook keto breakfast! Each one has under 4 net carbs and is easy to make ahead of time.
  • Bacon Keto Biscuits – These are perfect for meal prepping, freezing, and then enjoying on-the-go after a quick reheat! Works for breakfast or lunch, just 2 net carbs apiece.
  • Air Fryer Denver Eggs – When you want a fancy omelet but don’t have the time, this easy ramekin recipe is the perfect compromise!
  • Sausage Stuffed Chaffles – Seriously, this is SO easy! There’s tons of protein and fats to keep you fueled and energized throughout your day.
  • Keto Sausage Egg & Cheese Bites – A whole breakfast rolled up in neat little baked breakfast balls! These low-carb bites are freezable and reheat perfectly for a great meal prep option.

Want more keto coffee? My three top favorites are my Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino, a low-carb copycat of Starbucks’ Frappuccino, and this Keto Caramel Frappuccino. Check this recipe roundup for even more low carb coffee recipes!

Keto Smoothie FAQs

Are smoothies keto?

The ketogenic diet is all about reducing your sugar intake or anything that could cause a blood sugar glucose spike, then fueling your body with healthy fats. Most smoothies include tons of fruit, meaning they have way too many grams of carbs to be keto-friendly. While some berries (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries) can work with a keto diet, most fruits contain too many sugars. This keto smoothie avoids sugary fruits and blends avocado with coffee, peanut butter, and coconut milk for a thick smoothie at just 5 net carbs each.

Do you have to use MCT oil in a keto diet?

No, MCT oil or keto supplements are not a necessary for the keto diet. The main benefit of MCT oil is the added boost of fat, but we naturally get great, high-quality sources of fat in the avocado, coconut milk, and peanut butter in this smoothie.

Is peanut butter keto?

There are many peanut butters out there that add in sugar, corn syrup, or other sweeteners, making them a poor ingredient in a keto diet. However, there are tons of peanut butters that keep carbs low and ingredients simple, so you just have to check the label.

A Keto Gingerbread Latte is the best start to a chilly morning! This keto coffee is low calorie, low carb, and so easy to make.

This Keto Gingerbread Latte is the holiday drink of your dreams! The light sweet-and-spiced flavor of gingerbread works perfectly with the bitter coffee and creamy almond milk. This will become your favorite keto coffee drink to boost that holiday spirit!

    Keto Gingerbread Latte Ingredients

Here’s a quick overview of what you’ll need. For specific amounts, scroll down to the printable recipe card.

    • Espresso – You can increase or decrease this based on your preferred coffee strength.
    • Sugar free gingerbread syrup – I used Skinny Syrup’s Gingerbread Latte Syrup. It’s best to start with a small amount and add more if you need.
    • Steamed almond milk – Almond milk can be steamed just like milk for a nice, frothy top with fewer carbs.

How to Make a Keto Latte

This drink is so simple and can be made in no time! There are only 3 easy steps for this amazing keto coffee drink:

Pour the espresso and sugar-free syrup

The most important part of any latte is of course, the coffee! Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to the perfect cup of coffee. Personally, I love a dark roast that is strong, but not too bitter. This is my preferred roast.

For this recipe I suggest two shots of espresso per drink. However, if you would like to limit your caffeine this recipe will also work with a single shot. Simply pour the double shots of espresso in your cup and add the sugar free gingerbread syrup.

    Pour steamed milk

Use the steamer wand on your espresso machine, or a stand alone milk frother and froth 6 ounces of milk or almond milk until it reaches your desired consistency. Divide the milk and froth among the two glasses.

    Serve

Garnish your latte if desired. This is excellent with cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice sprinkled on top! You can also serve this latte with a keto cookie for a real treat!

If you would like to enjoy this Gingerbread Latte with more fall flavors. A stack of Keto Pumpkin Spice Pancakes or Keto Cinnamon Rolls would be the perfect breakfast with this drink. Meal prep some Grain Free Granola with Cranberries for a delicious on-the-go snack, too.

    FAQs about Keto Lattes

    Can you steam almond milk?

Yes, almond milk acts similar to dairy milk, so you can get that classic frothy top.

    Are lattes keto?

Most lattes are not keto-friendly because they use syrups with sugar. By using a sugar-free syrup, you can reduce the carbs (and almond milk instead of dairy milk helps, too). This recipe is just 1.1 carbs per serving!

    Keto Bourbon Caramel Latte

You will love this Keto Bourbon Caramel Latte-it is the perfect keto coffee cocktail! Your favorite coffee is combined with whiskey, sugar free caramel syrup and heavy cream! This skinny cocktail is super indulgent while still being under 2 net carbs! This drink is made for chilly evenings, curled up in a blanket with a good book.

This caramel latte is sugar free, so you don’t have to worry about it being a problem with your keto diet. You also only need 4 ingredients to make this easy cocktail recipe, so you can have it ready in no time! This recipe could also easily be doubled for entertaining! The caramel sauce compliments the whiskey so well, and the coffee and cream really bring the drink together. So cozy up and try this skinny cocktail tonight!

Ingredients in this Coffee Whiskey drink

As always, here is a quick overview of the ingredients used in our sugar free coffee. For the complete recipe, just scroll to the bottom of the page.

    • Coffee – This is best with fresh, warm coffee.
    • Bourbon Whiskey – It doesn’t have to be the expensive stuff for this to turn out tasty!
    • Sugar free caramel syrup – I’ve seen this at Kroger, Walmart, TJMaxx, Target, and more. They’ve got a classic and a salted version; I imagine both would be great, but I used the classic.
    • Steamed heavy cream – You can also use half-and-half, but I have only done the carb calculations using heavy cream

I also garnished the mug with a Keto Caramel Sauce — It’s not necessary, but it is SO delicious! It only requires allulose, heavy cream, butter, and vanilla extract. It’s easy to meal prep and have in the fridge for a quick craving.

This cozy Keto Bourbon Caramel Latte is perfect for a camping trip, a warm nightcap, or a cold snow day! Under 2 net carbs, this sugar free drink is the perfect balance of bitter and sweet.

How do I make this caramel latte?

The most complicated thing about this latte is steaming the heavy cream! Beyond that, the drink itself is so simple — No shaker or fancy things needed. Just pour your coffee, whiskey, syrup, and steamed cream into the cup. Stir and serve!

Because I love a garnished glass, I poured Keto Caramel Sauce (you could use store bought or even a sugar free chocolate sauce) on the inside edge of your glass, tilting it so it drips down to coat the inside of your glass.

Tips for the best caramel coffee

    • Add toppings! This Keto Caramel Sauce is one of my absolute favorites and it would be amazing with this recipe.
    • Don’t skip the step of adding the sauce to the inside of your cup. Not only does this look impressive, it adds another layer of sweetness to your drink!
    • You want your coffee to be warm for this keto drink, so all of the ingredients will blend well together.
    • Make this drink to your personal preferences! If you only want a little whiskey, don’t add the full amount. Or if you prefer more sweetness to your drink, add more syrup. If you add more heavy cream, you’ll make this drink even more indulgent. It’s all up to what you want!

Can I make this sugar free coffee with decaf?

Yes, absolutely. If you are sensitive to caffeine or you just prefer decaf, you can easily use decaf in this recipe. This is a great nightcap recipe, so if you’re planning on enjoying this before bed, decaf would be ideal!

This cozy Keto Bourbon Caramel Latte is perfect for a camping trip, a warm nightcap, or a cold snow day! Under 2 net carbs, this sugar free drink is the perfect balance of bitter and sweet.

    Instructions

    1. Optional garnish: Pour caramel sauce or sugar-free chocolate sauce to the edge of the glass, allowing it to drip down and coat the inside of the glass. I let this chill for just a few minutes to settle while I steam the heavy cream.

These Keto Mocha Brownies feature a rich coffee brownie base and a creamy vanilla cheesecake swirl! This indulgent dessert comes out to just 4 net carbs per slice, making it the perfect sweet keto treat!

A pile of keto mocha brownies on a white plate.

Everyone has a favorite dessert. Some people cannot pass up a milkshake or big slice of decadent chocolate cake, and others find cookies their ultimate weakness.

For me, it has always been brownies. I love a rich chocolate brownie, it always hits the spot for me! A close second is cheesecake. Is there anything better than an ultra creamy cheesecake with rich vanilla and a delicious buttery crust? Oh man!

These Keto Mocha Brownies are the best of both worlds. Rich chocolate brownies are laced with a sweet vanilla cheesecake swirl. They are the perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth without blowing your low carb diet! Each decadent slice is just 4 net carbs each!

    Ingredients for Keto Mocha Brownies

For these cheesecake-swirled coffee brownies, you’ll need the following basic ingredients:

Overhead view of ingredients needed to make keto mocha brownies in a glass bowl.

How to Make Keto Mocha Brownies

This is one of my all-time favorite keto brownie recipes! It might seem like a tricky recipe with the cheesecake swirl, but it is deceptively easy!

Here’s an overview of how to make this low-carb brownie recipe:

    1. In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, keto sugar substitute, instant coffee, and cocoa powder.
    2. Add the eggs, followed by the almond flour and salt.
    3. Turn the brownie batter into a parchment paper-lined 8×8-inch baking dish.
    4. In a blender or food processor, add the cream cheese, keto sugar substitute, heavy cream and vanilla extract and blend.
    5. Spoon the cheesecake mixture in lumps onto the brownie batter, and swirl.
    6. Bake until brownies are set

    A Note About Baking Times

Some readers reported longer baking times. I have made this keto cream cheese brownie recipe many times and always remove from the oven around the 25- to 30-minute mark and my oven thermometer is a true 350 degrees F.

Cooking times may vary depending on the thickness of your brownies, cheesecake swirl, color of your pan, or if you are using convection or not.

A keto almond flour brownie filled with cream cheese being held aloft.

What Keto Sweetener Should I Use?

As with all keto dessert recipes, I suggest using an erythritol sweetener such as Swerve or Monkfruit.

For this specific mocha brownie recipe, I find that the confectioners sweetener creates the best texture. However, if you can only find a granular sweetener that works as well.

    How to Store Keto Brownies

Once fully cooled, these keto fudge brownies should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. They’ll last up to 1 week.

Can I Use Another Grain-Free Flour?

No, this is intended to be a recipe for keto almond flour brownies. I do not recommend using another grain-free flour.

Tips for Making Keto Almond Flour Brownies

For these brownies, you will make a nice fudgy brownie batter. It will be quite thick, so when you scrape it into your baking pan make sure you spread it evenly all the way to the corners.

Be mindful to use the correct size pan. You will need an 8×8-inch baking dish for this recipe. If you use a larger pan, they will be quite thin and overcooked with the directions stated.

Note that the cheesecake filling is also thick, so creating a really pretty swirl effect is difficult, just swirl the mixture the best you can but be careful not to over mix it so you do have those nice big cheesecake layers.

Since living a keto lifestyle and paying more attention to carb count, sometimes I am blown away by how many carbs things have. According to the Starbucks website, a 16-ounce Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino has a whopping 69 grams of carbs. Wow!

This low-carb, keto peppermint mocha frappuccino has just under 4 net carbs for the same size and to be honest, I think it is even better — not to mention cheaper!

Ingredients in a Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino

    • Strongly Brewed Coffee
    • Unsweetened Almond Milk
    • Heavy Cream
    • Sweetener of choice (I used swerve to keep this recipe keto)
    • Cocoa Powder
    • Ice
    • Peppermint Extract

    Can I Omit the Coffee?

Yes! If you’d like to make a classic low-carb peppermint frappuccino, I recommend following this recipe instead. It still contains peppermint extract and cocoa powder, but there’s no caffeine or coffee in it.

Can I Use Another Non-Dairy Milk?

Yes, you’re welcome to use your favorite unsweetened non-dairy milk in this recipe.

How to Make a Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino

This recipe simply could not get an easier. You just need a good blender!

Once you combine the coffee, almond milk, cream, sweetener, cocoa powder, ice and peppermint extract, just blend until smooth.

You can top your peppermint mocha frappe with extra whipped cream, sugar-free chocolate chips, or a crushed sugar-free peppermint for a real treat!

Tips for Making a Sugar-Free Frappuccino

    • The one thing this recipe does require is a good strong cold coffee. I like to make a batch of iced coffee to have in the fridge, but if you prefer to do small batch you can brew extra strong coffee or espresso the night (or a few hours) before and let it chill in the fridge.
    • I made my copycat Starbucks peppermint mocha frappuccino keto-friendly and sugar-free, but you’re welcome to use regular sugar instead of a sugar-free alternative if desired.
    • I recommend enjoying your keto frappuccino right away, as it doesn’t keep well in the freezer.
