Keto Seafood Recipes

Seafood night is usually one of my favorites! Who doesn’t love an amazing grilled salmon fillet, or shrimp and grits? Going low-carb made me look harder to find keto-friendly ways to keep incorporating  my seafood favorites into my diet. Fortunately, low carb seafood options are endless, they include:

  • Crab and Lobster
  • Shrimp, Prawns, Mussels and Scallops
  • Fish: such as Salmon, Cod, Halibut, Tuna, Snapper or Mahi Mahi.

Side Dishes for Seafood

Whether you’re looking for light appetizers for game day or hearty dinners to keep the family satisfied, this list will have something for you! If you’re looking for keto sides, I highly recommend these Cheddar Garlic Keto Biscuits (they’re a perfect Red Lobster copycat!) to serve alongside. You can check out more keto bread options here, too!

Roasted veggies (like cauliflower, radishes, or broccoli) always pair well with seafood and are quick enough for a weeknight.  If you miss crispy fries with your fish, try this Keto Fry recipe using rutabaga instead! These Green Bean Fries or Zucchini Fries could also work in a pinch.

So set aside the beef, chicken, and pork tonight. Find a great seafood recipe and pretend you’re coastal for the night!

These Blackened Salmon and Zucchini Skewers are keto, low carb and gluten free! These summer kabobs are perfect on their own or on top of a big salad! #keto

These Blackened Salmon Kabobs have been on repeat all summer long. They are incredibly easy to make and insanely delicious. Last summer my sister and I went to Atlanta and we tried a Greek restaurant that had amazing salmon skewers. Ever since then the only way I want salmon is  cut into nice chunks and grilled!

I use a delicious spice rub for these, but you could easily switch up the flavor profile by using this Easy Jalapeno Lime Marinade to baste these keto kabobs! They would be amazing over some Cilantro Lime Rice for a light, Mexican-inspired bowl!

What ingredients do you need to make Salmon Kabobs?

These Blackened Salmon Kabobs feature a homemade blackened seasoning you will want on everything. It has basic spices you probably already have on hand–No sugar or fillers. Aside from the seasoning, you just need salmon fillets and a zucchini. They really are that easy! For specific measurements, keep scrolling down to the printable recipe card.

  • Spices:  paprika, Italian seasoning, red pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, garlic salt, and pepper
  • Salmon
  • Zucchini
  • Butter
  • Garlic
  • Skewers/Kabobs

These Blackened Salmon and Zucchini Skewers are keto, low carb and gluten free! These summer kabobs are perfect on their own or on top of a big salad! #keto

How do you make Grilled Salmon Kabobs?

  1. Heat a grill to high heat (approximately 400 degrees)
  2. In a small bowl combine all the spice ingredients and mix well. This creates a flavorful blackened spice rub that you will love! Combine the melted butter and garlic in a separate bowl and set aside.
  3. Slice the zucchini and salmon fillets into small chunks, try to make them semi uniform in size so they cook at the same rate.
  4. Sprinkle 3/4 of the seasoning mix on the salmon and make sure to completely cover the fish. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 of the seasoning over the zucchini.
  5. Thread the zucchini and salmon on skewers.
  6. Salmon cooks quickly. Mine are perfect when they are cooked 8 minutes total. I cook 4 minutes, then turn and cook 4 more minutes. Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of your salmon and zucchini.
  7. Brush garlic butter over the kabobs — This adds even more great flavor! Feel free to skip the step if you’re following a low-fat diet. If you’re on a keto diet, this step is great because you want your fats!

How to store and reheat grilled salmon kabobs?

If you’re lucky enough to have leftovers, place them in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days. To reheat, you can place underneath the broiler (watch it so it doesn’t burn), in the air fryer, or in a skillet on the stove. You can microwave, but I prefer the other methods because it doesn’t overcook the salmon as easily and the zucchini doesn’t get soggy.

What to serve with kabobs?

Kabobs are so easy, and they are easily paired with many different types of sides! I love serving these grilled salmon kabobs over this Cold Asparagus Salad or with this Greek Cucumber Salad. A bed of Cilantro Lime Rice or Mashed Cauliflower would complement the spicy seasoning and bulk up this low-carb meal, too! Marinated Mozzarella Balls would be the perfect appetizer or side dish, too!

These Crispy Keto Salmon Patties are packed with tender salmon, cajun spices and fried until golden brown! An easy low carb dinner perfect for busy nights!

I love salmon patties! They are such an easy and inexpensive dinner that’s always sure to please. Before going keto, these Caeser Salmon Patties were one of our favorites. However, the breadcrumbs make this a no-go for keto.

I have been working for a while to create really delicious, healthy salmon patties that are low-carb and keto compliant. I’ve finally got it! Lots of recipes use crushed pork rinds in place of bread crumbs, but I have never been a fan of pork rinds so I wanted to find a substitute.

The flavor of these crispy keto salmon patties is a bit cajun. The addition of chopped green onions, jalapeño, and Old Bay seasoning adds a nice complex flavor that you will love. Even better, the cook time for this recipe is only 6 minutes! If you’re looking for more keto seafood recipes, check out our 17+ Keto Seafood Recipes!

Ingredients for Keto Salmon Patties

I made these low-carb salmon patties with almond flour (more on why in a moment), canned salmon, and my favorite seasonings. Here’s what you’ll need to make this recipe:

  • Canned salmon: Full of protein and healthy fats
  • Vegetables: Jalapeño and green onion
  • Mayonnaise: Adds flavor and creates the right texture
  • Olive oil: Olive oil or avocado oil are ideal for this recipe but any neutral oil will work.
  • Egg: You will need eggs as a binder for the salmon patty mixture
  • Almond flour: I like to use Anthony’s
  • Coconut flour: I’ve had a lot of success with this flour
  • Spices: Old Bay , salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon juice

Can I Substitute the Coconut or Almond Flour?

This recipe uses a combination of almond flour and coconut flour. Now, before you think about just using one let me explain why both are necessary for this recipe.

The almond flour is a good course binder and helps create the crispy texture when the keto salmon cakes are fried. However, alone it doesn’t absorb all of the moisture and without it these patties are still delicious but they simply fall apart. So, don’t substitute anything else stick with the combination for the best results.

How to Make Keto Salmon Patties

These healthy, high protein salmon patties are so easy to make! Here’s step-by-step instructions to make this recipe:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients.
  2. All the mixture to rest for 5-10 minutes so the coconut flour can absorb any extra moisture.
  3. Using a 2-inch scoop, scoop the mixture out into five equal patties and pat out.
  4. Place the patties in the freezer for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Heat a large skillet to medium heat and add 3-4 tablespoons of oil.
  6. Carefully slide the patties into the hot oil. Cook until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  7. Remove from heat and place on napkins to absorb excess oil.

Sides for Salmon Patties

We dip these in a low-carb jalapeño ranch dressing and the flavor combination is out of this world! However, salmon patties work well when dipped in a variety of other sauces. We also served them with a simple garden salad, but they are extra delicious with these Crispy Zucchini Fries

If you’re unsure what goes with salmon patties, here are even more suggestions:

Can you meal prep this salmon patties recipe?

Yes! You can meal prep these keto salmon patties, if desired. I will say that they taste best fresh, but they’re still delicious once reheated.

If possible, I recommend reheating the salmon patties in a skillet with a little oil to crisp them back up again. Otherwise, you can eat them cold or gently warm them in the microwave.
